Study halls especially suited to the students’ needs were built at the Center. The rooms are well-equipped with everything necessary to make it possible for those who come there to address their studies diligently in a pleasant atmosphere, in ideal conditions. The students have at their disposal a rich medical library, computer rooms and bookshelves well-stocked with philosophical works, meditative literature.

The Center clubhouse is a social, family-like and unifying place to be. At the clubhouse, the students participate in activities – various cultural and leisure activities – all year long. The clubhouse is opened all week long; there are all kinds of activities going on, such as song fests and karaoke, picnics, workshops and more. The students enjoy participating in the different programs and in the social events, meeting friends and acquaintances. They enjoy the social atmosphere, which is youthful and one of togetherness.

The clubhouse gives the students a feeling of family, of community, unity and connection that is so important to every person, especially to one who is abroad, far from home and far from family.

As part of the cultural and leisure activities in the Jewish Center in Kaunas, students participate in lectures, day-long study sessions, workshops and different panels on a variety of subjects: Jewish identity, medicine and Jewish law, history, Israel wars, the meaning of life and more. The Center organizes conferences and fascinating enrichment courses in timely subjects. During the course of the lessons and lectures, debates, questions are being discussed and clarified in an intellectual, challenging atmosphere. Lectures are given by senior professors and by well-known lecturers. During the lessons and lectures, students are given in-depth explanations on Torat Yisrael, its implications and relevance over the course of history in general and in our times, in particular.

Recently, the Jewish Center has undertaken to establish a Mikvah in order to help preserve the family purity of the many students who decide to marry during their studies in Kaunas.

As the nearest mikvah is an hour-and-a-half’s journey away in one direction and two-and-a-half hours away in the opposite direction, there was great urgency for building a local mikvah. The people at the Jewish Center got working on this important matter – a matter on which the continuation of the Jewish nation is dependent – investing all their time and energy and to complete a perfectly outfitted mikvah intended to become operational in May 2017, in full compliance with the letter of the halacha. The city of Kaunas has a glorious Jewish past, but since the destruction of the Jews in Europe – about eighty years ago – there was no kosher, active mikvah in the area.

The construction of the mikvah was carried out under the supervision of Rabbi Gedalia Olshtein, who is recognized world-wide as an expert in this field.
